Kids are off from school for two weeks on Spring Break, so we headed south to Myrtle Beach last week. We left last Saturday around dinner time and drove 600 miles straight thru to Columbia, SC. Two bottles of 5 Hour Energy later, we grabbed a hotel room for the night. Yikes does that stuff keep you wired!
Got up in the morning and drove a few miles for some bike racin'. I love it when a plan comes together. Nice little 1.5 mile crit course. Closed to traffic with a hill on the backside, think RATL hill x 2.5. Poor turnout due to temps in the mid to high 40s and steady rain. The promoter combined the 3s and 4s for a group of about 25. Pretty quickly, the group was down to about 15. With about 4 laps to go I got dropped on the climb. I kept riding hard and kept the lead group in sight. Results are here. Afterwards, got cleaned up and drove the final 150 miles to Myrtle Beach.
We had a great time at the beach. I have not taken any time off in about 2 years so it was nice! Weather was so/so on Monday and Tuesday and great on Wednesday and Thursday. On St.Patty's day we found a little Irish Pub that hosted a very nice party complete with the requisite freaks.
After some put put golf on Friday, we got on the road at about 1pm and drove about 450 miles. We stopped for the night in Elkin, NC and were able to catch the Cleveland State and Ohio State NCAA b-ball games. Got up Saturday morning grabbed some breakfast and headed home.
Sunday I got out for an ez four hours to see how the legs felt. Results...I have got some work to do before Cohutta on April 25th.
Later,
BRD
